Here is my storyboard so far:

Lyrics - Meanings and Interpretations

I have been thinking into what the lyrics to Linkin Park's 'Breaking The Habit' actually mean. I've had a general idea, but I looked into certain lines of the song. Here are the lyrics:

Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again
You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again

I dont want to be the one
The battles always choose
'Cause inside I realise
That I'm the one confused

I dont know whats worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I dont know why I instigate
And say what I dont mean
I dont kow how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I have no options left again

I dont want to be the one

To show you what I mean

And here's what I thought:

The main idea is Suicide.
Breaking the habit = killing yourself

Examples to prove my point:

"Memories consume
Like opening the wound
I'm picking me apart again"

This means that the person is remembering all the bad things in their lif and they're picking themselves apart over it, maybe they're feeling guilt about their past.

"You all assume
I'm safe here in my room
Unless I try to start again"

This means that everyoe thinks this person is normal and happy, but when they're alone, they fall apart into an emotional mess.

"I dont know whats worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I dont know why I instigate
And say what I dont mean
I dont kow how I got this way
I know it's not alright
So I'm breaking the habit
Breaking the habit
Tonight"

This means that the person doesn't know why they act the way they do and they cant stand it anymore, so they're going to end their life.

"Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again"

This could imply that they are holding the instrument of their death (a gun, a knife, a syringe etc) closely, trying to think of another way out.

"I hurt much more
Than anytime before
I have no options left again"

This means they cant think of another solution because they hurt so much., This supports they have tried again..


"I'll paint it on the walls
'Cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends"

This could mean that they're possibly painting the walls with their blood literally or figuratively. And "i'll never fight again and this is how it ends" means they are ending their life.



Hopefully I can incorporate these ideas into my music video and it'll help get the message of the song across easier.
